But today, I would like to have a say.

It's been almost 8 years since I started blogging and until today, I still, now and then, receive comments that question my fashion sense. Some even ridicule in the rudest way possible. I've always been amenable about these comments, in the manner of not responding back. I just delete them and don't wish to see them again. End of story.

But today, I would like to have a say.

I was looking through my blog archive, from the rather newer posts to the old ones, and I, for some reason, do not regret for the way I have been dressing. In fact, I love it. I love my fashion sense, my explosive use of colors, my clashing-hysteria of patterns. I am not sorry. Instead, I feel sorry to those who lack humor, art sense, and knowledge. Knowledge, you say? Yes. Knowledge. I mean, come on. Open up. We all live in the internet world. Google "fashion". Can't you see that the world is not as monochromatic and plain as you think or wish it is? Fashion is fun because it contains variety. From region to region, from season to season. Why is it, that when I went to UK, I saw so many girls dressed up in the way I do? And why is it, that flipping through the pages of Nylon Japan feels like going through my own fashion archive? It's because, people like me do exist. I am not alone. We exist. Some people, including me, just happen to love huge pompoms, large tutus, tacky shiny latex. Because we see beauty in them and beauty is personal. We don't poke our fingers into your always-black ensembles, do we? Why the other way around?

People, don't be such a bully. I've been trashed by many people including fashion editors here in Indonesia, but you see, your voices do not matter to me. Because I am a citizen of the world, not a citizen of your close-minded minds.

I'm a casual (and always silent) reader of your blog, but this post demands mad respect. Honestly, I wouldn't wear what you wear but it doesn't matter. I don't read your blog to stay updated with your OOTDs; I read because I admire the strong, smart lady behind all the clothes who, unapologetically, stays true to herself. Thanks for always sending positive vibes.

Kak D. I am not so sure whether this is my first time commenting on your blog entry. I just want to say that each word typed and expressed by you inspires me. I may look at it differently from the way people or you might want people to see it. But, they are so inspiring that each time it reminds me that being different is something special and only those who are brave and strong enough would stay special and different. Its okay. Lets just read and walkaway whenever we receive bad comments. It shows how much they care. God Bless kak.

Dan mungkin banyak banget diluaran sana^^ So jangan dipikirkan ya kak! hehehehe

(btw ini komentar pertama aku)

Hello Kak D!

I admire you, a lots. Meskipun aku gak cukup punya kepercayaan diri yang tinggi untuk pakai apa yang Kak D pakai, but i just love it! The way you mix and match pattern and color, the way you add stunning small thing to your fashion, I just love it. Dan aku yakin ada banyak orang yang sama seperti aku. So just ignore the haters, they just do know fashion.

xoxo.

Hello Diana, I am glad you speak up about these things. Often I know people try to shrug negativity off but deep down they take it personally. So, good work in owning your words. Much love!

Growing up reading your blog (yes, i read your blog since i was in junior high school and now i almost finish my college) makes me really understand about your fashion sense and I LOVE IT. i do colors and patterns mix too (because you look so cool with it, i want to be cool too!) and i like pop of color in my outfit. people just dont understand that you way mooooore crazier with your outfits back then! hahaha i remember you wore a huge hat from your mom, wear two different color tights for different legs at the same time so it look like the one from american apparel, wear a BAG as a skirt, or wear metallic leggings as a cardigan. you have a very imaginative mind, kak Di. i really appreciate your fashion taste and your choice to not to be bothered by the bullies. keep up the good work kak di!

I also am a silent reader of your blog. I don't think you need to explain or justify your fashion sense. I follow you because you are an individual and not a follower of anyone or anything. I believe you are one of the rare "fashion bloggers" out there that does not care what other people think or dress in ways that are considered trendy or hot or whatever. Please keep up with whatever you are doing! I totally admire and respect you for who you are and for what you have built from following your heart!

I agree with you .....and just do what you love and believe of that .just trust your own heart ....semangat ^_^

Lovely words, I'll never understand the need to go out of your way to make someone else feel bad. It seems even crazier to do it over something so happy and fun like your outfits, maybe simply a reflection that the fun is missing from their own lives?!

I've read your blog for many years. Your style is very inspirational. I'm also a person who dresses in bright colors, mixes patterns and silhouettes in unusual ways, and is inspired by the beautiful and "absurd." Dressing in this way is more than just pleasing--it is poetry and helps me to express the magic I see in the world. I commend you for this post. You're lovely.

Rika, I have not, did not, do not, and perhaps will not have the same fashion style you do.. Your fashion style catches many people eyes including mine which are monochromatic. And what makes (most monochromatic) people stuck reading yours is the way you think and you have magical way to express your thoughts both in written and english. That's your gift. Just keep being honest, humble, and stay being a sponge, then you will always radiate.
I gotta say i appreciate that after you're getting crazily famous, you dont get cocky to your non-celeb friends (baca : me, haha).
Send kiss to double S, esp mini one yaa :) XOXO.

But I do respect your writing it out loud, as yes, don't they know they're bullying by criticizing n condemning? People may comment as they like, but also need to wake up that world is not all about what they like to see. You're right on every points!

I think I've posted a similar comment before but I just want to say it again. I admire the way you always stay true to yourself and don't get swayed by what's in or what's common. I admire your hard work and positivity through all things. I admire the way you dress in a country like Indonesia where in my personal opinion is not as open minded to different kinds of fashion like the countries you mentioned, UK and Japan. Your blog is not only a place to share fashion, but it shares inspiration of various factors. And I admire the way you stand up to hater comments in a very intellectual way because some people just can't do it like you do. So stay the way you are, Kak Di, because you're an inspiration to many other Indonesians including myself and also people from around the world <3

Hi Diana, I always be your silent reader...
Big respect for you Diana! ♥♥♥
