Why did I fall in love with you?

I'm not sure myself. But let me try to remember..

I remember that I never noticed you in class. You belonged to a group of friends that didn't interest me. A group of bad boys. The first time I talked to you felt forceful too. Because I came to class too early and you were already there too, sitting at the back row. So I felt impolite if I didn't make a conversation with you because we were the only people in the room. So I approached you, and said the stupidest line in my whole life without even asking your name first. "You know why nobody wants to be your friend? Because you're one of those bad boys." Surprisingly, you just looked at me and laughed out loud. And I got back to my seat because our lecturer arrived.

I remember, we still didn't exchange names even after that awkward incidence. It was only when I was walking with Lucas, our classmate, that you asked for his number, and asked for mine too. And I gave my number without asking back yours. When you were saving my number, I spontaneously said, "Diana. What's your name?". You just walked off, but after a few steps you turned your back and shouted, "Sai!".

I remember not liking you. You were a bad boy, for whatever that actually meant. Who on earth stops and wears his sunglasses first just to walk from the cafeteria to the classroom? No one but you.

I remember, I started getting short messages from you. You invited me for dinner a few times. But I never accepted. Until you asked whether I would join you study for tomorrow's quiz. I finally accepted.

I remember not having any topic to talk about at that time, so I just kept on reading my book. It was about Walt Disney. Then we started to discuss about the articles and things felt more comfortable. And this act of studying together became a regular activity.

I remember that you would always bring me a bar of chocolate so I can eat it while studying. I liked that.

I remember, we eventually went out to play bowling, but with our other friends too. You picked me up, and I was so nervous that I had to peek out the window first to see what you were wearing so I wouldn't embarrass myself. "Look, Intan. That's the guy," I told my lil' sis. We both laughed because we thought you were so 'Bollywood'. Not that it's bad, it was just something very new to me.

After all..

I remember, you became that person I would look for when I'm sad or in trouble. Like that day when I ruined my dress, and I called you to weep about it. And you calmed me down saying that you'll buy me a new dress. You never really did, but you just saying that already made me feel better.

I remember us walking down the campus aisle at night, and I raised a topic. "You're actually not a bad boy. It's all just a mask. You have a really kind heart, you're just locking it inside this thick shell because you're too afraid to get hurt. You'll realize that when someone eventually cracks that shell."

I remember prom night was coming, and I asked you who you're coming with. You said you're gonna ask out the cutest girl in campus.

And I remember, we ended up attending prom night together. And it became so clear. I cracked your shell. And I was officially the cutest girl in campus. At least for you.

Little Things That Made Us Happy #13

  • Playing tickle with S before we hit the bed. Sounds cheesy I know, but having a good, natural laugh before we sleep is a really good feeling.
  • Cooking at home! Lately I have been cooking regularly and S is super liking it!
  • Singing Rihanna's "Diamonds" every time we turn on our iMac. Seriously, they both have the same opening sound.
  • Making our first proper video project heheh.
  • Visiting other people's photography blogs and make "oohs" and "aahs" sounds every time we are in awe hahaha. We love being inspired and we both really wanna improve our photography skills..;p
  • Planning our new house's interior design. Alhamdulillah. S said I'm allowed to choose colorful furniture hooraaaaayyyy..
  • Meeting our friends more often. We've all been very busy and it feels really good to meet up again.

Extra Dry

Hi, girls! This is a slightly different post than usual because this time I’m talking about sanitary pads hehehehe. Basically I was asked to try and review these newly launched variants from Charm, “Charm Extra Dry #BebasLembab”. They come in 2 sizes, 23 cm (for day) and 29 cm (for night usage). I gotta say they’re really good! I’ve always used Charm sanitary pads my whole life and I can confidently say that these variants are much better because they’re much much drier, leaving no icky feeling especially irritation to the skin. And I like their new white packaging! Just something different than the signature orange packs. Looks cleaner, yes? :)

Thank you soooooooooooooooo much to all of you who participated in my "December Giveaway". It took me a loooong time to go through all of your answers and select the winner because you all are really kind and sweet and I actually dropped some tears while reading some of your comments. It's amazing how writings and photos can touch our hearts that way, and I am happy we all are reminding, supporting and inspiring each other in different ways. For that, I thank you all very much once again.

I love all the answers, and thank you for taking me on a short trip to the past - revisiting my old posts and remembering how life was back then. But still, I have to choose 1 winner, and that winner is.....Safiera Nadya. Thank you for the lovely answer, Nadya...a Kate Spade package will be coming your way.

Dear Kak Di,

Hi Kak :) My name is Nadya. Here’s my favorite blog post from you that have given me a boost of confidence and a sprinkling of hope:

When Life Hits You

To me, this is an example of how much of a strong and positive person you are, even though I am not married (yet), I already know that I want to have children (I even have their names picked out already hihi) and the dissapoinment, sadness and anger you must have felt when you found out that you lost your baby, I can’t even bear to imagine how it felt.
“It's sad to know that something had lived and died inside me. But I always believe that Allah is kind, and this, for whatever reason, was for the best. So yes. Life is amazing, because it hits you and hugs you within seconds. And in a minute, you learn something big, something new, something eye-opening. That life, moves quickly, and forward. Stay positive, people...God is always kind...:)”

My father is very much a realists, and he would always say to me “don’t laugh too hard cause something bad is sure bound to happen to dampen your happiness anyway, so why bother” I had been such a pessimists all these years because of those words (and my lack of self confidence), but that changed when I read these last few sentences from you post, it shook me to my core. That May I just found out I had failed one of my classes at Uni, and I was so angry and grief stricken but then I read this post on the way home and I mentally kicked myself saying “How stupid and childish are you? so you failed a class, so what? You can repeat it in the next semester, work harder and move on! Someone just lost a baby, someone out there probably just lost their home, their job, their loved one, and you’re here crying over over a C-? Wake up! Don’t cry over it! Do something about it! Everything happens for a reason” Now I know that I can choose to live in happiness no matter how many sticks and stones life throws at me, I AM the only one who can dampen my own mood, my own happiness! So, thank you for sharing this post with me Kak Di :)

Well, that's my favorite post from your blog Kak Di, Thank you so much for your inspiring blog, it really is A Modern Girl’s Guide (I think even guys could learn so much from your blog) from fashion, to events, to beauty tips and to simple but on-the-dot thoughts that turns into motivations for me and all your many readers. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for deciding to write a blog and making it as wonderful and whimsical as it always has been since 2007. Thank you.
