Tough Colors

It's been a tough year. Adulthood is tough. Nothing gets easier. And the only way out is to focus on the good things. And the tougher life gets, the more I feel like being kind to others. I guess being kind sort of brings a sense of relief.

Short Getaway To Medan

It's my first time to Medan and for my mom too hehe. We did so much within 2 days; eat Durian Ucok, Mie Aceh Titi Bobrok, Ayam Goreng Gumarang, Tip Top, Martabak Yurich, and visited some photo spots. I was actually there for work but while in Medan, might as well try out their best, yes? :)

Schmiley Mo 2.0 in JFW 2017!

The BIG day is finally over. Oh boy was I suuuuuuuper nervous about showcasing my 2nd collection at Jakarta Fashion Week 2017. My team and I prepared this collection in two months time and given the amount of short time, I am proud of what we accomplished today. We developed our own prints, made our own bags, bracelets, pompoms, even the bandana. We just wanted things to be detailed and fun! :)

In this collection, we used a lot of denim and tweed fabric paired with metallic pleats and faux leather here and there. As for the elements; pompoms, polkadot patches, fringes, daisies, cactus, smileys (as usual hehe). I looooove this collection so much! Can't wait to share with you all the photos from the runway. Stay tuuuuuned! :)

To: Vogue // From: Fashion Blogger

Interviewed by CNN Indonesia for a very interesting topic: my opinion on Vogue US's recent harsh comments where they called out fashion bloggers as "pathetic" and "heralding the death of style". I have a 70% - 30% split view on this. I for sure disagree that fashion bloggers are heralding the death of style because in fact, we are bringing real style to the streets. We are not models, we are not celebrities, but we celebrate style and fashion on a daily basis. Magazines and editors should be happy because we are bringing your editorials to life. Instead of building a wall between us bloggers and your media empire, we all should be working closely because like it or not, this is the era of collaborations - cross country, cross category, cross age, cross everything. Now my 30% lies in a shameful agreement that yes, some bloggers are actually abusing the moment and they shouldn't. Us fashion bloggers should have more respect to the word "fashion" itself, because fashion is not just about the pretty clothes, but there's an actual history and progress and evolution behind it that we must understand and not ignore. Fashion is an actual study that must be carefully learnt, not just fun fun fun. So thank you, Vogue US, for being mean and blunt. At least you raised the topic.

Welcome, JFW 2017!

As I was heading home from today's event, I learned something new. I realized that dreams are self-made, and so are opportunities. I sometimes wonder how I am able to do the things I am doing today. I feel like I am just an ordinary girl but I just work very hard. I don't even have a fashion background but I'm making my way my own way and I guess that's it: to make your own opportunities.

Today is a historical day for me because Schmiley Mo is officially a part of the Jakarta Fashion Week. I am truly honored for Schmiley Mo to be able to join the Opening Parade of Jakarta Fashion Week 2017 as well, and by Opening Parade, it means that the designer gets to walk down the runway together with his / her muse. So here I was with the adorable Acha Sinaga as my muse and truthfully I couldn't ask for a better person to walk with. Thanks for your support, girl! Both of us are wearing Schmiley Mo's first collection that will be available for purchase starting November.

And yes, I am sooooooo excited for Schmiley Mo's fashion show featuring our 2nd collection on Wednesday, 26 October 2016!
